Matthew 20:1-16 Can One Man Get a Better Reward than Another from God? (Mateo 20:1-16 ?Puede un Hombre Obtener Una Mejor Recompensa Que Otro?)

In our jobs in America, the man who has worked there the longest gets the better parking places, the better salary, the more job security. Employers reward their employees to make them better employees. There is something in our minds as employees that thinks that is what is fair. However, we also forget that we should never discuss our salary with someone else. There are different agreements made among the employees with the boss. If we begin discussing our salaries, the ones who aren’t paid as much as the others may become jealous and make trouble.

When I was in Korea, I helped a Korean/American man with his American tax forms. He didn’t have any more education or experience than I had, and I had worked there longer. (‘El no tenia mas educacion o experiencia, y yo habia trabajado alli mas tiempo.) However, his salary was almost twice as much as mine, but I didn’t tell him. I didn’t tell him, but I knew it was because he was Korean and I was American. It didn’t feel good. (No se sintio bien.) However, I had to accept that he had a different contract because he was Korean, and we were in Korea. If I wanted to be in Korea, I took the contract they gave me. When we make a contract, it is a contract. (Cuando hacemos un controcto, es un contracto.)

Jesus told a story about being part of the kingdom of Heaven. He said there was a man who had a vineyard. He needed men to work in his vineyard, so he went out and hired some men, each for one denarius for a day. He sent them into his vineyard to work. (Los envio’ en su vinedo para trabajar.)

A few hours later, he decided he wanted more workers. He saw some men standing in the marketplace and offered them a job. He also offered each of them a denarius for the day.

Three more times that day, he went out and found men who were doing nothing and asked them to come and work hiring each for one denarius for the day.

At the end of the day, he began paying his workers. He gave each of them an denarius for the day. The ones who began in the morning expected to get more money than the rest of them. When they got the same amount of money as the others, they were not happy at all. They grumbled at their employer. (Ellos se quejaron a su empleador.) They couldn’t understand why they had made it through so many hot hours and only received the same salary as the others.

The employer had to remind them of their contract, and then he sent them on saying he could do with his money what he wanted because it was his money.

Jesus wanted us to know that when someone comes into the church, one man is not better than the other just because he has been there longer. Our reward in Heaven is all the same. God loves us all equally regardless of who has been a Christian the longest. He said the first will be last and the last will be first. We are all the same in front of God, and if we do what God says, we can go to Heaven. We all have the same reward. (Todos tienen el mismo recompensa.)
