Let’s Have Fun With English; Red Verb Quiz, Level 3A

If you are following the blogs entitled, “Let’s Have Fun With English,” you will know that these the red verbs are the most used verbs in English. The reason to learn the most used verbs is because if you know them, it will speed your fluency along faster. On the first level, the quizzes were over the most basic tenses: the Simple Present, Simple Past, Simple Future, and Present Progressive or Continuous Progressive Tenses. On the second level, the quizzes had modals and negatives. This is the third level. On the third level, all the answers are Present Perfect Tense, Past Perfect Tense, Past Progressive Tense, or a Gerund. If you don’t know how to make these, you need to look at the post I did yesterday that introduced the third level. There is also a chart there that has all the Simple Past Tense verbs and the Past Participles of the red verbs. You will need the Past Participles to make the Present Perfect Tense and the Past Perfect Tense. Present Perfect tense is formed with “has or have” and a Past Participle. Past Perfect Tense is formed with “had” and a Past Participle. Some of the Simple Past Tense verbs and the Past Participles are the same, but not all of them, so if you if don’t know them, you need to look at the chart. Past Progressive uses “was or were” and the “-ing” form of the verb. A gerund us not actually a verb, but looks like a verb. A gerund is a noun or an adjective. If you use an “ing” form of the verb without “is, are, am, was, were, or be,” it is not a verb, but a gerund. Fill in the blanks. The answers are at the end of the quiz. There is also a list of red verbs at the end of this quiz. Good luck!

You are getting really smart!!
